Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Re: Phish?

These are both bands that I've enjoyed immensely over the years and have probably missed out on a lot of good music in my pursuit for the ultimate jam. I usually go on two to three month jags with each band where I listen to nothing but. I've heard the comparisons to the Dead and I just don't see it. The only time I've ever heard anything by fish that sounds like the Dead is the jam out of Comes a Time from 7/17/76. That said, I think as a whole Phish are technically better musicians and have more in common with Zappa than they do the Dead. The only other comparison I can find is the stinky hordes that follow both bands. Is there a link between bad hygene and auditory perception? I digress...When people ask me I tell them that Phish is music for the mind and the Dead is music for the soul. I don't see why I can't like cheese cake and apple pie. But that's just my two cents.
